1995
Driesenga & Associates founded

D&A is founded by Dan Driesenga in the former Chris-Craft manufacturing building in Holland, MI.  The company focused on Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Testing, and Environmental Consulting
1996
Holland Office Relocates

The Holland office is moved into space in the former GE Building on 16th Street to accommodate growth
1997
Growth by Acquisition

Joiner Engineering, a 25 year-old firm in Spring Lake, MI is purchased by D&A to expand services to offer Civil Engineering and Land Surveying
1998
Expansion to Grand Rapids

D&A opens a Grand Rapids, MI office to better serve the firm's growing client and workload base in the area
1999
Holland Office Relocates Again

The Holland office moved into the former Black River Schools Building on 8th Street to accommodate even more growth
2000
Another Strategic Acquisition

Sandel, Chappell Associates, a 20 year-old Civil Engineering & Surveying firm, with offices in Whitehall and Grand Haven, MI is acquired by D&A.

Northern Michigan Expansion

D&A opens a new office in Cadillac, MI to help serve the Northern Michigan market
2004
D&A Goes to Detroit

D&A expands East with a satellite office in the metro Detroit area to serve the needs of our Southeast Michigan clients
2005
D&A Targets Indiana

D&A capitalizes on a strategic opportunity by opening an office in Indianapolis, IN.  This marks the company's first office out of Michigan.
2006
Centralizing Lakeshore Operations

As the Lakeshore market continues to grow, the Spring Lake office is merged into an expanded central Holland office
2007
D&A Goes South

Similar to expansion into Indiana, D&A sees opportunities in North Carolina. New offices are opened in Charlotte and Raleigh within the year
2009
Refining Focus in Michigan

The effects of the Great Recession force tough decisions to be made. Operations in Indiana and North Carolina are closed to allow D&A to focus on core clients in Michigan.
2013
Detroit Office Relocates

The metro Detroit office moves west to Ypsilanti in order to centralize services more efficiently in the eastern Michigan region

20th Anniversay Celebration

Driesenga & Associates proudly celebrates 20 years of outstanding client service.

Holland Office Moves

D&A's corporate headquarters and Holland, Michigan operations moved to a new location in the Holland Town Center after more than 10 years in the previous 8th Street location.
2019
Dan Driesenga Retires

Dan Driesenga steps down as President of D&A after nearly 25 years. Jim Henning has been promoted to President after serving multiple roles in the company since it's founding in 1995.
2020
25th Anniversary Celebration

Driesenga & Associates proudly celebrates 25 years of outstanding client service

Expansion to Lansing

D&A opens an office in Lansing, MI to further serve the company's continually growing markets

Married 29 years with 1 son, 1 daughter, 2 grandsons, 3 beagles, and 2 cats. Enjoy golfing, playing hockey, fishing, hanging out with friends & family, grilling, Detroit sports teams, rock concerts, traveling with my wife. Graduated from Michigan Tech in 1990, and have been with D&A since we started in 1995. Commissioner and 2-time champion of the D&A Fantasy Football league (22 years and counting).

Married my loving wife Susie in 1984 (last time the Detroit Tigers won the World Series). I have 3 sons, 1 granddaughter and 2 grandsons.  Away from work you will find me floating on our pontoon, fishing with my brother, and spending time with my family. I am an avid sports fan who loves the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines. Coached Little League Baseball for 23 straight years. I have been in the construction industry since 1982. My very first construction site was EPCOT Center in Orlando Florida.

Dream of someday owning a ’67 or ‘68 Camaro. Michigan Tech grad, 1997. Enjoy Tigers and Cardinals baseball (but Tigers first, of course!), and leading my son’s cub scout den on lots of adventures!

Started surveying as a survey assistant in 1989 after spending time out west working in the ski area industry. Decided to follow in my grandfathers footsteps as professional surveyor and, graduated from MIchigan Tech with a B.S. in Land Surveying and after another brief stint in the ski area industry became a professional surveyor in 2000 which was the same year the firm I was working for was merged with Driesenga & Associates and they haven't been able to shake me since. Most of my free time is spent cycling, working around the house / yard, and going to a few concerts or sporting events here and there.

MBA from Northwood University. I enjoy being outdoors, particularly anywhere near the water, and spending time with close friends and family. Most of my time outside of work in the last couple of years has gone to building my own house and learning all of the associated trades, which has been both challenging and rewarding. I hope to travel more in my free time once it’s complete.

Married only 5 years to the most patient woman i know, with 2 daughters and a third kid on the way. We settled about 5 miles from we both grew up, so family is a big part of life when i’m not at work. Once the kids are in bed, i can be found looking busy but accomplishing nothing in my woodshop or out fishing on the river.
